Rudolph Stradford Scholarship: In honor of our patriarch, this inaugural scholarship is named after him. We want to increase access to high-quality education for all. When this happens, opportunity and a self-determined life are in reach for every person. Our rigorous and highly selective application seeks to identify exceptional students that demonstrate a significant financial need. 

Scholarship Basic Requirements:

Basic Eligibility:

High School Senior 

Pell eligible

A US citizen or permanent resident with a valid permanent resident card or passport stamped I-551.

  • In good academic standing with a minimum cumulative weighted GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale (or equivalent)

 

  • Must have the 2024-2025 FAFSA on file at your selected university/college by the time of selection.

 

  • Able to demonstrate a financial need.

 

  • Additionally, the student must plan to enroll full-time in a four-year degree HBCU or an accredited mortuary science, program at a US, not-for-profit, private or public college or university.

An individual from any of the following marginalized groups:

  • African American
  • Caribbean American
  • Indigenous - with a documented tribal certificate
  • Latinx

 

An ideal candidate will have:

  • An outstanding academic record in high school (in the top 15% of his/her graduating class)

 

  • Demonstrated leadership ability (e.g., as shown through participation in community service, extracurricular, or other activities)

 

  • Exceptional personal success skills (e.g., emotional maturity, motivation, perseverance, etc.)

Application Process:

Application materials submitted by May 15th 2024 that will include short essay responses, three letters of recommendation, and an official sealed transcript

  • The Stradford Foundation’s Scholarship Committee will:
    • confirm receipt of your materials
    • will review your materials and select semi-finalists.
    • Semi-finalists are invited to interview.
    • The finalists are selected June 15th 2024.
       

 

Scholarship Award

The Scholarship Committee will select two students to receive the below awards:

 HBCU: $500

 Mortuary Science Program: $500
